Shanghai Testing & Inspection Institute for electrical Equipment / calibration laboratory (STIEE/CL) is the metrological department of SEARI. It was established in 1958. It undertakes testing and verification of meters and instruments for specific field of electrical machines and electrical apparatus. Metrological department under leading of science and technology bureau of MMI has provided technical service for electrical special field, compiling verification rules and calibration method, set up technical means of traceability for many years. The metrological department is a member of machinery industrial metrological association.

The calibration laboratory is in charge of metrological calibration work for every testing station when STIEE established in 1995. The testing stations which we serve are Test station of low voltage electrical apparatus, Test station of small & medium electrical machines, Test station of electromagnetic compatibility. It has become the calibration laboratory of STIEE (STIEE/CL) since 1995.

In 1993, the calibration laboratory was assessed and authorized by metrological management office of MMI and appointed to be the 15^th measuring and testing center station of MMI. It developed metrological service for some special field of machinery industry. In 1999, the center station was renamed The 15^th Measuring and Testing Center Station of Machinery Industry. Now the center station is appointed and assessed by Quality service department of Machinery Industry Union China.

In 2002, according to shanghai metrological management rules, the calibration laboratory accredited by shanghai metrological calibration management office became accreditation calibration laboratory.

The calibration laboratory was assessed by CNAL and to be independent accreditation calibration laboratory in 2005.

The STIEE/CL at present has 15 employees, among which 9 are junior and senior technicians (6 senior engineers included).

The STIEE/CL has testing areas of constant temperature and humidity 75m² , area of calibration prepare 50m². The area of sample room and computer room are 150m^{2 .} There are 135 sets of instrumentation and equipments in all.

The STIEE/CL has general property RMB 607000 Yuan.
